A group of microbial strains authorized by the International Standards (ISO), Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) and Japanese Pharmacopoeia to be used in officially standardized examinations are included in our collection as listed in Table 1-3. The scientific name of the strains are included in the tables in addition to the names described in each Standard for easier search within our catalogue.

Symbols used in the 'Status' column indicate the status of individual strains in our collection: a double circle () indicates that an NBRC strain is described in the standard, a single circle () indicates that an IFO strain is described (hence an NBRC strains equivalent to it is listed), while a triangle () indicates that the strains described in the standard is neither an NBRC nor an IFO strains, and hence an equivalent NBRC strain listed.
